2011 Wine Blog Awards Voting is Now Open

by admin on June 21, 2011

Public voting for the 2011 Wine Blog Awards is now open. Our panel of judges spent three weeks reviewing dozens of blogs for each of the eight award categories and has narrowed down the list to five finalists per category. (In two cases, we had a tie for fifth and so included six finalists.)

The public voting period will run for one week from June 21 – 27. The final winners of each category will be determined via a 50/50 weighting of the public vote and that of the judges and will be announced on July 23, 2011 at the North American Wine Bloggers Conference. If you participate in the public voting, please take your responsibility seriously. We suggest you review each finalist’s blog and vote based on each category’s defined criteria. To vote, please visit:

  • Congratulations to all finalists!! Your industry understands the importance of authentic connections…!

Each of you create truly compelling dialogues.  We applaud, your immersive and often humble approach to social media, one that begins with listening, quantifying and only then responding to ensure relevance,  inspiring sincere emotional connections.
  • Congratulations to all the finalists! I see many of my favorite blogs and bloggers represented! I checked out many of the blogs that were new to me and there's some fine writing going on!

I do wish that the survey monkey was in the same order as the list/links above. Some of the blog names are similar or unfamiliar and I lost my place in trying to review each blog in each category before voting so honestly, I gave up and just voted for the ones I already KNEW I thought were the winners. Categories I didn't have a strong opinion about I ended up just skipping.  Also, as much as I love the writing on one of the blogs, I didn't see a place for comments which begs a question for me: what makes a blog a blog? Is it the comments and interaction? Or is it just postings in a narrative style in a reverse chronological order?

Have fun at WBC 2011 in Virginia, everybody! After attending WBC 08, 09, 10 and EWBC 09, I will be missing WBC and you all this year: VA too far to go and am working on a west coast wine project during July. I look forward to reading your blog posts and tweets!

Humbled, honored and completely stoked to be among the finalists for Best Wine Reviews. In good company.
  • Thanks - I'll try to live up to the vote of confidence!

Gotta say that I'm kind of bummed that Palate Press isn't a finalist, particularly in the Best Writing category (not to take anything away from the finalists, who are all deserving!).
